Curious Connections – Looking back on a successful week

The 3rd Stitch-Colour-Cloth exhibition at St Matthew’s Church, Perth was a wonderful opportunity to share the work of our members, chat to visitors, sign up new members and launch the 10,000 Art Angels, The Children’s Global Tapestry for PEACE project.

Our members certainly embraced the theme of “Curious Connections” resulting in a very diverse and exciting range of work. Inspiration was found in seascapes, Perthshire landscapes, a Scottish Country Dance, a word game and King James I’s connection to Perth. The exhibits were a mix of contemporary and traditional techniques using different fibres, textiles and mixed media.  All demonstrating the vibrancy and creativity of our Stitch Colour Cloth members.

The exhibition also included examples from our 2023/24 workshops – Stitched Sketchbooks led by Ali Ferguson and stump work techniques run by Heather King.  Members not only learned the specific techniques but were also inspired to use new methods and stitches in subsequent projects.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the exhibition a success – especially the members for sharing their work; all the volunteers who stewarded throughout the week and the committee for all their dedicated behind the scenes work to make this an enjoyable experience for visitors and members.

Here is some of the feedback we received from the week:
