Celia Joicey, Dovecot Studios Director started the Stitch Colour Cloth 2025-2026 season with a talk about their current IKEA Museum’s Magical Pattern exhibition. It was a fascinating subject and Celia also shared the process and challenges of curating such an exhibition .
The Magical Patterns exhibition explores six decades of textile design by IKEA and features 180 iconic fabrics showcasing the Swedish company’s approach and commitment to innovation, collaboration, and experimental design. Many of the textile artists were women and pioneers in the field of design. The exhibition runs until the 17th of January 2026 at Dovecot studios, Edinburgh.
The talk was followed by a lively Q&A and members also shared their memories of Biba the subject of the next Dovecot exhibition.
